Dana Hobbs Skidmore, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the home of her daughter where she resided.
She was born January 27, 1944, a daughter of the late Luther and Julia Hamlin Hobbs. The family lived in Michigan for several years before returning to Ribolt.
Dana worked for many years at Browning Manufacturing in Maysville and then as a hairdresser in shops at Maysville and at her beauty shop by her home. She enjoyed playing slot machines, music by Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, and the Ronettes, UK basketball, and spending time with her family. It was seldom she didn’t have a Pepsi nearby.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Ruggles of Tollesboro and Teresa Sapp of Ewing; one son, Thomas (Mechelle) Riley of Chillicothe, Ohio; two sisters, Toneda Shaw of Tollesboro and Connie Fannin of Black Oak; two brothers, Paul Hobbs of Tollesboro and Charles Hobbs of Douglasville, Georgia; two grandchildren, Sean (Kara) Sapp of Lexington and Travis Ruggles of Tollesboro; and two great-grandchildren, Destiny Ruggles and Travis Ruggles. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion of more than 30 years, Doug Armstrong; one sister, Sandra Lykins; and two brothers, Gary Hobbs and Gerald Hobbs.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Dana’s grandson Sean Sapp officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery at Tollesboro.
Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at the funeral home.
