Darrell Eugene Gilbert, 64, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at his home.
He was born February 23, 1960, at Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Floyd Arnold and Virginia Grace Moore Gilbert.
Darrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and the Cincinnati Reds, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Lana McCoy (Aaron Carpenter) of Vanceburg; one sister, Sharon Corns of Vanceburg; five grandchildren, Taylor Hickle, Zahid Gilbert, Hunter Gilbert, Hudson Carpenter, and Hayden Carpenter; and three great-grandchildren, Haisley Hickle, Indie Hickle, and Liam Wilburn. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Edward “Eddie” Gilbert, and three brothers, Rick Gilbert, Steve Gilbert, and Hershel Gilbert.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Bryan Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Travis Patton, Hunter Gilbert, Carl Ginn, Kirby Hilger, Dalton Ginn, and Aaron Gilbert.
Zahid Gilbert will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
