David M. Bentley, 73, of South Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born in Portsmouth April 15, 1952, a son of the late Luke Bentley Sr. and Hazel Jarvis Bentley.
David was a retired carpenter out of Local 437.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Carol Davis Bentley; one son, David Michael Bentley Jr. of Huntington, West Virginia; two daughters, Meagan (Ricky) Mays of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, and Ashley (Michael) Mullins of South Portsmouth; one sister, Sandy (Bill) Plummer of Lexington; three brothers, Luke (Julie) Bentley of Garrison, Danny (Joyce) Bentley of Vanceburg, and Marty (Marie) Bentley of Mason, Ohio; five grandchildren, Micah, Josie, Sawyer, Liam, and Axxell; and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends who will sadly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Rita Anderson.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore with Luke “Butch” Bentley III officiating. Burial will follow in Soldier Cemetery at Garrison. Visitation for family and friends will be after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
