Death investigation underway

Officials are conducting a death investigation at Garrison.

Sheriff Johnny Bivens said officials were notified of an incident Friday afternoon at Rock Hill near Garrison and upon arrival deputies discovered an individual’s remains at Kinniconick Creek near Kinney Road.

Bivens said the body has been identified as that of Timothy Grant, 50, of Garrison.

Deputy Coroner Amanda Gaydos said an autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

The roadway remained closed for several hours while the investigation with local and state officials was conducted at the scene.

Assisting at the scene were Lewis County sheriff’s deputies, Garrison Fire and Rescue, Lewis County Search and Rescue, Black Oak Fire and Rescue, Lewis County Coroner’s Office, Portsmouth Ambulance and Kentucky State Police.

The incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Kris Cox and Det. Nathan Shortridge.

Further information concerning the matter has not been released.
