Debbie Merideth

Debra Lynn “Debbie” Merideth, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, in Lexington at the age of 63. Born on November 30, 1961, in Vanceburg to James and Opal Medley, Debbie was a radiant soul who made a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Debbie was a proud graduate of Lewis County High School, and her warmth and friendliness ensured she remained an active and cherished member of the community. She retired as the gift shop manager of CHI Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, where her kindness was a comfort to many.

Debbie is survived by her daughter, Mary Merideth Patel (Ankit), and her cherished grandchildren, Teller and Jace Patel, who were her pride and joy; brothers, Eddie and Bobbie Medley; and her sister, Melva Medley Diedrich. Debbie’s heart was immense, and it encompassed her adopted family, Brenda Patel-Hughes (Jody), Nidhi Patel-McKinney (Austin), Danny Hughes, and Sawyer McKinney, all of whom she loved as her own. Debbie was preceded in death husband, Gary Ralph Merideth, who passed away in 2019, and her parents.

An exceptional cook, Debbie was famous for her macaroni and cheese, a staple at gatherings. Sewing brought joy to Debbie, along with the comforts of cooking and nourishing those around her. Debbie was also a devoted member of Southland Christian Church’s Richmond campus, where she found strength in her faith and fellowship.

Debbie’s life was a testament to love, caring, and the joy of giving. Her legacy will continue to inspire and influence, ensuring her tender influence will always be felt. Private graveside services for Debra Lynn Merideth will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at The Lexington Cemetery, 833 West Main Street in Lexington with Pastor Grant Dew officiating. Pallbearers are Derrick Medley, Eddie Medley, Ankit Patel, Bobbie Medley, Taylor Daniell, and Mike Young. Prior to the service, a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street in Lexington. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home is honored to assist in the arrangements for Debra Lynn Merideth.
