Delores Esham Bays, 90, of Vanceburg, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lewis County on June 12, 1931, the eldest child of Richard and Gladys Estep Esham.
Delores retired from Lewis County School System after 30 years of service. She earned a BA, MA and fifth year degrees from Morehead State University as well as two early childhood endorsements: early childhood and reading. She loved reading, UK Basketball, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Richard (Sharon) Bays of Davis, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jane Bays (Shannon Holland) of Vanceburg; four brothers, Kenneth (Marcella) Esham, James C. (Patty) Esham, Gary David (Sharon) Esham, and Joseph Dale Esham; two grandchildren, Corry (Lisa) Eveland and Steven Theiss (Ashley); and three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Kyle and Briar.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Thomas Esham, Drennan Clark Esham, and Clayton Eugene Esham; one sister, Judith Ann Phillips; and a granddaughter, Shelby Jane Bays.
At her request, services will be private.
