Donald Ray “Don” Hartley, 67, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, formerly of Garrison, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 3, 2016, at his residence.
Don was born January 18, 1949, in Lewis County, a son of the late Roy and Julia Marie Bloomfield Hartley.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and bravely fought in Vietnam. He was the founder and president of the Lewis County Coon Hunters Club that many took part in. Don loved his family and friends with all his heart and will be missed by many.
Don’s life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Anthony (Martina) Hartley of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Christopher (Jessica) Hartley of South Portsmouth; five beautiful grandchildren, Britny Hartley, Megan Hartley, Brad Griffitt, Blake Hartley, and Sara Hartley; three step-granddaughters, Whittney (Ben) Jenkins, Mikarra Huff and Trista Huff; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thurman and Verley Hartley of Greenup County, and Marvin and Maddline Hartley of Lucasville, Ohio; three sisters, Ethel Collins and Lena Kamer, both of Garrison, and Laura Mae Strawsbough of Columbus, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren yet to arrive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Hartley, Elza Harley, and Watt Hartley.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison with Bro. Thurman Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery in Lewis County.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016, and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue in Garrison.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
