Donald Lee “Ducky” Shope, 83, of Lucasville, Ohio, formerly of Vanceburg, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Edgewood Manor of Lucasville II.
Ducky, as family and friends knew him, was born on Rock Run September 11, 1942, a son of the late Charles and Zadie Gladys Dyer Shope. He was a farmer and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Donald was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his siblings, Retia Hauck and Gary “Bim” Thurman, Janie and Darrin Farley, Mary Nolan, Paul “Pete” and Drema Shope, Geri Shope, and Bob Grayson of Vanceburg, Earl and Grace Shope, and Stanley “Bo” and Evelyn Shope of Bucyrus, Ohio, Clyde Shope of Marion, Ohio, and Debra and John Pyles of Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, also survive and will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Melvina Lohr and Rosie Evans, and five brothers, Bill, Charles, Carl, Dave, and Freddie Shope.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in Hannibal Cemetery on Rock Run.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
