Doris Hays Chinn, 108, of St. Cloud, Florida, formerly of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at her home.
She was born January 21, 1911, in Jackson, a daughter of the late George and Nancy Roberts Hays.
Doris was of the Baptist faith and was a retired teacher with the Lewis County School System. She enjoyed teaching school, cooking, gardening, canning and spending time with her family.
Doris is survived by two sons, William Chinn and Wilgus Chinn (Lee Ellen) of Mansfield, Ohio; five daughters, EvaLena Kile (Larry) of Orlando, Florida, Nadine Casto of Bellville, Ohio, Lillian Chinn of St. Cloud, Florida, Mary Lou Porzella of Orlando, Florida, and Nancy Slinker of Mansfield, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, William Edward Chinn Jr., Vicki Harris, Barbara Welchsler, Patricia Biscotti, Lou Ann Reinert, Sandra Ford, Brenda Falde, Sherry Matthews, Donna Chinn, Gordon “Gordy” Chinn, April Chinn, Alisa Lingley, Anthony Blake “Andy” Chinn, Edward Wayne Slinker, and Molly Ann Young; 18 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Edward Raleigh Chinn; one son, Gordon Chinn; two grandchildren, Becky Silva and Tammy Offhaus; three brothers, Dallas Hays, Wilgus Hays and Ward Hays; and one sister, Louise Frierson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. John Lewis officiating. Entombment will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Friends may visit from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
