Dorothy Fannin Maynard, 96, of Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Ashland.
She was born in Lewis County March 25, 1927, a daughter of the late Esner and Dessie Florence Riley Fannin.
Dorothy was a member of Heritage Freewill Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, for many years and later moved to Olive Hill where she became a member of Olive Hill Wesleyan Church, serving as a member for four years. She was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. Even as a widow, she invested in a van so she could take her friends to church on Sundays. Her faith in God was always an inspiration that helped her to give encouragement to everyone. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, and visiting with her family.
Dorothy is survived by one sister, Norma (Bob) Hoptry of Greensburg, Indiana, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Carroll Maynard; one son, Douglas Keith Maynard; and one sister, Mary Inez Perry Cooley.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60 at Olive Hill, with Bro. Tim Stout officiating. Burial will follow in Stamper Cemetery at Emerson.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel at Olive Hill.
Dorothy’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
