Dorothy Lorene Clark Walker, 69, of Concord, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at her residence. She was surrounded by loved ones following a courageous battle with health issues.
She was born, July 16, 1946, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Bill and Lucille Mason Clark.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Luther Walker Jr.; one son, Bryon Keith (Becky) Walker of Vanceburg; and one daughter, Vanessa (Bradley Dale) May of Concord; seven grandchildren, Brandon Keith Walker, Breanna Carol (Mike) Applegate, Sarah Beth Walker, Breanna Nicole Walker, Laura Angelique May, Caleb Dale May and Isaac Wade May; a great-grandson, Baylor Michael Applegate; a sister, Angie Garrett of Trinity; several nieces and nephews; her Sand Hill Christian Church family; and numerous friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laura Walker; and four sisters, Ernestine Rouse, Betty Barger, Wanda Werline, and Barbara Rouse.
Dorothy was a pillar of the Sand Hill Christian Church and a true lady in every sense of the word. She had great joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved homemaking, decorating, cooking, farming and spending time with her family. She was a past employee of the US Postal Service, Comprehend, Darrell’s Florist, Tucker’s Country Market and Kroger.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro with Bro. John Byard officiating.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Bill Mullen, Bob Bane, Jimmy Rouse, Jerry Walker, Tommy Walker, Steve Vice and Todd Kingdon. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great-grandson, and nephew, Dustin Garrett.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the funeral home.
