Dot Lewis

Dorothy “Dot” Crawford Lewis, 85, of Vanceburg, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 27, 2023, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.

She was born in Lewis County on May 27, 1938, a daughter of the late Archie and Goldie Stevens Crawford.

Dot worked at US Shoe for 28 years and was a member of Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dot is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles “Chick” Lewis; one daughter, Miranda (Rick) Silvey of Vanceburg; three sons, Keith (Willia Jean) Lewis of Garrison, and Chuck (Kelly) Lewis and Jack (Vanessa) Lewis of Vanceburg; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Vanderpool, and four brothers, Gilbert Stamm, Harold Crawford, Elwood Crawford, and Ronnie Crawford.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Curt Cordle, Dr. Howard Wilson, and Bro. Roger Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Evans Chapel Cemetery on Town Branch Road.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home.

Dot’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
