Douglas Wilton Gerike, 85, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.
He was born June 27, 1937, in Lewis County, a son of the late Roy and Hester Walker Gerike.
Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed farming, loafing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Douglas is survived by four sons, Karl Gerike of Mason County, Keith Gerike of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Kelvin Gerike and Kenny Gerike, both of Tollesboro; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Gerike, and a brother, Dallas Wayne Gerike.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Danny Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Pallbearers will be Levi Gerike, Blake Gerike, Hunter Gerike, Michael Gerike, Kenneth Gerike, and Samatha Gerike.
