A West Portsmouth, Ohio, man was airlifted to a Huntington, West Virginia, hospital following a single-vehicle accident this morning on Ky. Rt. 8 just west of St. Paul.

Sheriff Johnny Bivens said Josh Thomas, 30, of West Portsmouth, was traveling east on Ky. Rt. 8 in a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo when the auto’s right wheels dropped off the right side of the roadway.

Bivens said Thomas apparently overcorrected and the vehicle traveled back across the roadway and rolled over before traveling over a steep wooded bank near CSX railroad tracks.
