Dustin James Garrett, 45, of Sand Hill, went to his Heavenly home Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Dustin was born in Maysville on January 28, 1980, a son of Angelique Clark Garrett and the late James M. Garrett. Dustin was a lifelong attendee of Sand Hill Christian Church where he had many friends and loved listening to the music and worshiping with his friends.
A 2001 graduate of Mason County High School’s Special Education Program, Dustin enjoyed looking at books and newspapers, family get-togethers, his dog Gypsy, and traveling through the Great Smoky Mountains. Dustin made friends easily by extending his hand for you to shake, as well as through his giggles and infectious laugh, along with a beautiful, sweet smile. One always felt happy around Dustin.
In addition to his mother Angie, survivors include several cousins, friends, and a special cousin, Rita Clark Gill, who babysat him from birth and was his caregiver for over 32 years.
In addition to his father, Jim, Dustin was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Willie and Esther Mason Garrett; maternal grandparents, William R. and Lucille Mason Clark; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins went to Heaven ahead of Dustin.
Services will be at Noon Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home with Bro. John Byard presiding. Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m Tuesday. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery at Wilson Bottoms.
