Earl E. Cooley Jr., 67, of Quincy, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio, surrounded by his family.
Earl was born at Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 9, 1955, a son of the late Earl Cooley Sr. and Rose M. Logan Adams.
Earl, in his earlier years, worked as a mechanic for McDaniel’s Garage and later worked for the Lewis County School System as a custodian for 39 years. Earl loved playing his guitar and going to several churches in the area to play for them. He loved going to car shows, working on engines, and doing carpentry. He also liked talking on his CB (His handle was Goat). Earl was of the Christian faith. Most of all, he loved his children and his grandbabies.
Left to cherish Earl’s memories are his wife, Tina Cooper Cooley of Quincy; one daughter, Kayla R. (Clinton) Stoops of Wheelersburg, Ohio; three sons, James Cooley of Vanceburg, Daniel (Kayla) Cooley of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Michael Cooper of Quincy; two sisters, Phyliss (David) VanHoose of Garrison and April (Greg) Kiselak of Black Oak; two brothers, Vincent Cooley of Garrison and Raymond Cooley of Tollesboro; eight grandchildren; and extended family and friends who also will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Wanda Adkins.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Pastor Blake Bivens officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Cooley, Raymond Cooley, Matthew Cooley, Nick Kiselak, and Clinton Stoops.
