Anthony “Ed” Applegate, 62, of Louisville, formerly of Tollesboro, died Monday, March 15, 2021, at his home.
He was born November 17, 1958, in Mason County, a son of the late Arthur Applegate and Dora Bach Johnson.
Ed was a minister for Kentontown Christian Church in Robertson County, and had served as a teacher, coach, and principal for Lewis County Schools. He enjoyed golfing, watching UK Basketball, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Harrison Applegate; one son, Clay Edward Applegate (Jennifer) of Louisville; three grandchildren, Kayley, Wade, and Carter; and one sister, Charlotte Dixon of Vanceburg. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
A private service will be Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Phil Cropper and Bro. Richard Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Tollesboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cy Dixon, Jay Fite, Scott Osborne, Al Bane, Phillip Messer, Ronnie McConnell, Tim Douglas, and JC Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ed’s memory to Lewis County Lady Lions Basketball, 79 Lions Lane, Vanceburg, KY 41179.
