Efforts are underway to make Dugan’s Curve safer

Steps to make safety improvements to Ky. Rt. 8 a mile east of Vanceburg are being taken, according to officials.
The stretch of roadway, known locally as Dugan’s Curve, has been the location of countless accidents and numerous fatalities.
The safety of Dugan’s Curve was brought into question again following a fatal accident there last week in which two vehicles collided head-on.
Deputy Matt Ross, who is investigating the accident, said the roadway was wet at the time of that crash. Several motorists have reported the roadway seems unusually slick there when it is wet.
State highway officials were called in following an accident there in August 2014 that resulted in the death of five-year-old Quinton Brown and seriously injured two of his siblings, Max and Makeya Brown.
