Elwood Lewis Parson, 73, of Quincy, passed away Saturday evening, September 9, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 23, 1944, in Lewis County, a son of the late Estill and Ermal Miller Parson.
Elwood was a Christian and attended Wright’s Chapel. He worked as a moulder for Portsmouth Casting Company until his retirement. Elwood loved being outdoors, farming and spending time with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren.
Elwood is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Ruckel Parson; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark Lewis Parson and Teresa of Quincy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Haitz and Ronald, Melissa Tackett and Fitzgerald, and Valerie Pruitt and Keith, all of Quincy; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Glenn Parson of Troy, Ohio, Lenoard Parson and Robert Parson, both of Quincy, Curtis Parson of Garrison, and Dennis Parson of Portsmouth, Ohio; and two sisters, Violet Royster of Troy, Ohio, and Inez Burns of Garrison. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eldean Parson.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison with Bro. Larry Joe Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Granny Thomas Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue in Garrison.
Pallbearers will be Mark Parson, Ronald Haitz III, Nathan Tackett, Ronald Haitz Jr., Fitzgerald Tackett Jr., and Keith Pruitt.
