Firefighters from Lewis, Rowan, and Carter counties responded to Old Trace Road when a barn in the vicinity of several other structures was reported on fire.
E-911 dispatchers received the call shortly after 2:00 p.m. January 11 and paged out firefighters from Camp Dix and Olive Hill fire departments. Crews from Haldeman, Route 377, and Black Oak fire departments also responded to the scene to assist.
The fire spread to two mobile homes and several vehicles before being brought under control. The barn and one of the mobile homes were destroyed, the second mobile home sustained damage to one end where a bedroom is located.
Firefighters remained on the scene until after 5:00 p.m.
Chris Butler and Eden Hamilton resided in the home that was destroyed and the family of Sandra Butler resided in the home that was damaged.
The community’s food pantry is collecting monetary and material donations to assist the family.
“Our pantry is asking that everyone pull together in this time of need and help these families out,” was posted on social media by Chosen Path Food Pantry.
The post notes that all cash donations will be going towards lumber, metal siding, sheetrock, and furnishings to repair the mobile home that was damaged.

• Curtains
• Carpet
• Laminate flooring
• Paint
• Dresser
• Lumber
• Sheetrock
• Flooring
• Insulation
Clothing is not requested at this time since the immediate needs of the families have been met.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
Firefighter David Stafford said he appreciates the assistance of area fire departments in helping to fight the fire and protect other nearby structures.
The source of the fire remains under investigation.
