Fire has destroyed a home of on Ky. Rt. 344 south of Vanceburg.
Firefighter Carl Chaney said the fire was reported at 9:25 a.m. Friday, February 12, by a motorist who saw the fire while driving past the residence, about three miles from Ky. Rt. 59.
Chaney said firefighters from Camp Dix, Lewis County and Black Oak departments responded to the fire but were unable to save the structure.
“It was a complete loss,” Chaney said. He added some of the equipment located near the home was moved a distance away to keep the fire from spreading.
He said the home’s occupant, Donald Cassidy, was safely evacuated from the home and taken to a nearby residence.
