Flora Mae Flinders, 67, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at her home after an extended illness. She was born at Russell on December 7, 1958, a daughter of the late Chester G. and Lydia Beatrice Zornes Carter.
A devoted homemaker, Flora enjoyed visiting on the phone and spending time with her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She was of the Christian faith.
Left to cherish Flora’s memory are her husband, Glen Flinders; one daughter, Jennie (Jeff) Mofford of Tollesboro; three sons, Chester Allen Flinders of Vanceburg, Rickie Lee Flinders of Tollesboro, and Glen David (Ariane) Flinders; one sister, Dolores Brown of Vanceburg; one brother, Sam (Joyce) Carter of Columbus, Ohio; and 16 grandchildren. Several other family members and friends will also mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland David Carter and Chester Carter.
Services will be at Noon Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Pastor Jason Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal Dawn Cemetery at Quincy.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rickie Flinders, Chester Flinders, Tyson Mofford, Rick Holmes, Eugene Calder, Lynn Flinders, Jeff Mofford, and Kyle Flinders.
