Frank Preston Erwin, 94, of Quincy, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, July 26, 2016, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born May 8, 1922, in Carter County, a son of the late Albert Troy and Cynthia Baker Erwin.
Frank was a member of Grace Baptist Church at Garrison and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed farming, taking care of his goats, eating biscuits and gravy, watching Cincinnati Reds baseball games, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Helen Mae Skidmore Erwin; one son, Michael Todd Erwin; one daughter, Deborah Erwin; four brothers, Walter Erwin, Sam Erwin, Troy Erwin and Lloyd Erwin; and one sister, Ermal Parrish.
Frank is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Shirley Erwin of St. Paul, and Mark and Peggy Erwin of Garrison; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Boyd Evans of Garrison; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Stallard of South Shore. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison with Bro. Roger Erwin and Sister Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery in Garrison. Full military honors will be accoreded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016, and until the service hour on Friday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue in Garrison.
Pallbearers will be Greg Erwin, Steven Thomas, Kevin Erwin, Bret Evans, Chad Evans, and Brian Horsley. Honorary pallbearers will be Brady Thomas, Adam Montgomery, Everett Horsley, Kirk Evans, Elijah Horsley, Preston Erwin, and Bailey Thomas.
