Freda Mae Lewis

Freda Mae Riley Lewis, 85, of Vanceburg, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 29, 2023, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Freda was born in Lewis County on October 26, 1937, a daughter of the late Cleve and Nannie Susan Stevens Riley.

Freda was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She was employed at US Shoe Corporation in Vanceburg for over 40 years. She loved going to church, teaching Sunday school, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Sanford Jackie Lewis; two sons, John Wayne (Krista) Lewis and Roger (Teresa) Lewis of Vanceburg; a granddaughter, Lacy Lewis; and a great-granddaughter, Wesley Mitchell Standley. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by one son, Mitchell Jackson Lewis; three brothers, Odist Riley, Jack Riley, and Kenneth Riley; two sisters, Wilma Hockley and Jewell Hicks; and one grandson, Adam Lewis.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Ronnie Hall and Bro. Daniel Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Cemetery at Head of Grassy.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Riley, Larry Riley, Terry Riley, Brad Mabe, Cannon Hall, Fred Chinn, and Landon Bentley.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Pollitt, Teddy Horsley, and Sammy Riley.
