Gary Dennis Cropper, 78, of Tollesboro, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Hospice of Hope in Maysville.
He was born in Lewis County on January 2, 1948, a son of the late Alexander James and Lena Cropper.
Gary cherished his time with Rita, his wife of 52 years. A believer in God, he enjoyed yard sales and browsing his favorite store, Goodwill. He had a passion for car shows and took pride in collecting vehicles he planned to restore one day. Gary also enjoyed Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show and loved reminiscing about the past. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially watching his grandson race at Mudlick Valley Raceway and FaceTiming with his grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Delta Pruitt of Vanceburg; two sons, Michael Cropper (LaCassa) of Flemingsburg and Kurt (Alicia) Cropper of Mt. Sterling; a sister, Linda Sue Cropper (John Hilyard) of Utah; seven grandchildren, Dedrea, Dustin, Gabby, Gracey, Gage, Everleigh, and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Henry, and Emerson. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Faye Cropper; a son, Gary James Cropper; and two brothers, Bill Cropper and John Cropper.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Phillip Cropper officiating. Burial will follow in Burtonville Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 12:30 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Kurt Cropper, Michael Cropper, Gage Cropper, Dustin Stone, Michael Scott, and Cole Cooper.
