George Calvert

George Marshall Calvert, 75, of Tollesboro, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.

He was born January 17, 1945, in Lewis County, a son of the late George and Lorene Hughes Calvert.

George proudly served his country in the United States Navy and attended Happy Hollow Church, operating the food pantry for 16 years. He enjoyed going to church and gospel sings, helping people, and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife of 16 years, Linda Sue Patton Calvert; one daughter, Jackie Sue Evans (Donnie) of Maysville; one sister, Elizabeth Hord (Harold) of Tollesboro; one granddaughter, Erica Aurthurs (Josh); one great-granddaughter, Tayla Aurthurs; five nephews, Michael Hord, Jack Heenan, Clark Calvert, Steve Calvert, and Tom Sullivan Jr. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy Oliver; two brothers, Newell Calvert and Tom Sullivan Sr.; and one sister, Lorene Parish.

A private service will be Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Tom Marshall, Bro. Bryan Davis, and Bro. Billy Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Olivet Cemetery.

George’s family will serve as pallbearers.
