George Albert Lawson, 82, of Tollesboro, passed away Friday afternoon, April 29, 2016, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.
He was born January 8, 1934, Lewis County, a son of the late Edward and Gladys Irey Lawson.
George was a member of Martin Christian Church and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammie Lawson; and a grandson, Christopher Thompson.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jewel Toller Lawson; two sons, Jake Lawson of Maysville, and Burl Lawson (Jannifer Gray) of Tollesboro; seven daughters, Joann Sweet of Maysville, Brenda Rains of Indiana, Linda McKee of Vanceburg, Patty Butler (Charlie) of Vanceburg, Connie Bogges (Ernie Walter) of Sharpsburg, Rosemary Lawson of Germantown, and Jessica Lawson of Maysville; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother Roy Lawson of Vanceburg; and one sister, Kathleen Pence of Grove City, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Brian McRoberts officiating. Burial will follow in Muses Chapel Cemetery on Quicks Run Road.
Friends may visit from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
