*Update*
Johnathon Trowbridge continues to show improvement. His mother, Michelle Trowbridge, reports they are scheduled for a follow-up CAT scan Monday morning and then a meeting with specialists.
Johnathon is a fifth grade student at Garrison Elementary School and is at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, following an accident at the school Friday.
Ten-year-old Johnathon suffered a skull fracture as the result of the accident in the school’s gymnasium when he and another boy collided as they were playing.
A coworker of Michelle at Collins Country Market, Angie Burger Jordan, has established an online account for contributions to help the family with expenses.
“He’s a sweet boy that hugs you every time he sees you,” Angie writes about Johnathon. “He’ll talk your ear off and loves to help his mom at work. He also has had Perfect Attendance all year at school up until now.”

A fifth grade student at Garrison Elementary School is at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, following an accident at the school Friday, February, 5, 2016..
Ten-year-old Johnathon Trowbridge suffered a skull fracture as the result of an accident in the school’s gymnasium when he and another boy collided as they were playing.
A family spokesperson reports a neurosurgeon at the hospital has met with the family and, as of now, he doesn’t require surgery to stop bleeding inside his head.
Medical personnel will continue to monitor swelling and bleeding around the fracture, according to the spokesperson.
Michelle Trowbridge, Johnathon’s mother, reports that when the school nurse first contacted her Friday, they went to the school to check on him.
“Although he was drowsy, it seemed like nothing he hasn’t done before,” she said of the mishap.
Michelle works at Collins Country Market, just down the road from the school.
“After I went back to work the nurse called me said he’s nauseated,” she said.
Michelle said they took Johnathon to an urgent care facility and from there went to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
“After a CAT scan they discovered he had bleeding on his brain between the skull and the brain and swelling. They then flew us to Children’s in Columbus. After another CAT scan they admitted him into the ICU,” she reported Friday night.
Doctors were concerned because of the location of the fracture.
At last report they weren’t expecting Johnathon to require surgery but expect an long recovery period.
The family asks for continued prayer.
“Everyone knows my heart is full of love for each and everyone of you. Just please pray hard,” she said.
“Thank you all for your prayers. God was with us through the night,” Michelle reported Saturday morning.
