Glendawene Cooley Wilson, 81, of Vanceburg, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Vanceburg Rehabilitation and Care.

She was born on Saturday, September 27, 1941, in Lewis County, to the late Thomas Cooley and Lula Smith Cooley.

Glendawene attended Petersville Church of God and loved fishing, cooking, gardening, canning, and spending time with her family and friends.

Glendawene is survived by one son, Michael Wilson of Flemingsburg; one daughter, Norma (Jeanie) Cooper of Vanceburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Fairlean Steele of Bucyrus, Ohio. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Glendawene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Ercel Wilson; one great-great grandchild, Spencer Stamper; four brothers, Iva Cooley, Roscoe Cooley, Theodore Cooley, and Raymond Cooley; and four sisters, Dorothy Applegate, Norma Jean Hardeman, Erie Smith, and Betty Butler.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Milt Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in Gulley Cemetery on Highway 377 in Lewis County.

Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m. until the service hour Friday, March 31, 2023, at the funeral home.

Kelly Stanfield, Dustin Cooper, Zach Duncan, Wayne Cooley, Jim Eldridge, and Adam Eldridge will serve as pallbearers.

Doug Wilson and Gene Butler will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg is caring for all arrangements for Mrs. Glendawene Cooley Wilson.
