Harold Edward “Ed” McCann, 69, of Vanceburg, passed away Tuesday evening, November 20, 2018, at his home.
He was born December 31, 1948, in Lewis County, a son of the late Grover and Gladys Pollitt McCann.
Ed was a lifelong farmer and he enjoyed farming, raising cattle, gardening and spending time with his family.
Ed is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cora Alcorn McCann; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold McCann Jr. and Melissa of Vanceburg; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Melinda Gibbs and Bobby of Vanceburg, and Jeffrey Riley of Camp Dix; one grandson, Andrew McCann; five brothers, Phil McCann of Marion, Ohio, Wendell McCann of Mason County, Howard McCann of Dayton, Ohio, Gaye McCann and Tom McCann, both of Vanceburg; and six sisters, Lula Mae Ash of Marion, Ohio, Carolyn Scott of Seaman, Ohio, Kathy Williams of Olive Hill, Debbie Stone of Gibraltar, Michigan, Vickie Beckett of Marion, Ohio, and Bonita Applegate of Tollesboro. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Lynn McCann Riley; and three brothers, Bob McCann, Jack McCann, and Kenneth McCann.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Eddie Stepp officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, and after 9:00 a.m. Sunday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Pallbearers will be Andrew McCann, Harry McCann, Bobby Gibbs, Earl Patton, Shawn Himes, Chester Carter and Jeffrey Riley.
