Helen Mae (Kielman) Applegate, 88, of Maysville, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2016, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born September 10, 1927, in Lewis County to the late Tom and Etta (McClanahan) Kielman.
Her husband, Lawrence Eugene Applegate, preceded her in death in July 2007. They were happily married September 22, 1949. A faithful member of Antioch Church of Christ, she was loved and known by all as Mamaw Helen.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Earl, Hermon, and Sherman Kielman; a sister, Mable Kielman; three sisters-in-law, Rose Kielman, Mary Kielman, and Christin Pugh; and four brothers-in-law, Harold Killen, Cecil, Andy and Harry Lee Applegate.
Mrs. Applegate leaves behind five beloved children, Kenneth (Linda) Applegate of Maysville, Gary (Linda) Applegate of West Chester, Ohio, Wanda (Ronnie) Conn of Lewisburg, Wilma Applegate of Maysville, and Brad (Janie) Applegate of Lewisburg; eight loving grandchildren, Kevin (Tara) Applegate, Tara (Rick) Dean, Chad (Devin) Applegate, Jarrod (Brittany) Applegate, Leigh Ann (Kirk) Ruggles, Jay (Misty) Conn, Brandi (Tyler) Brewer, and Rachel (Jason) MacIntyre; 30 adoring great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Killen of Lewis County; four sisters-in-law, Bess Mann, Jaunita Kielman, Shirley Stanfield, and Antiono Applegate; a host of nieces and nephews; her special caregivers, Debbie Cooley, Sharon Rice, Sandy Stunson, and Marci Dunn; and many special friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Knox and Brothers Funeral Home in Maysville with Evangelist William Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Wedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Applegate, Jarrod Applegate, Jonathan Deatly, Donald VanGosen, Jay Conn, and Jakeb Conn. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Dean, Jason MacIntyre, Tyler Brewer, and Kirk Ruggles.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope.
