Homer Conley

Homer Green Conley, 83, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton, Ohio.

He was born in Lewis County June 21, 1939, a son of the late John and Bernice Scott Conley.

Homer proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, having fought in the Vietnam War. He retired after 20 years of service. He was employed as a sales representative for Western-Southern Life Insurance for 10 years, served as Executive Director for HUD in Vanceburg, and was a Master Mason. He loved telling stories, fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Donna Jean Lewis Conley; one son, Tim (Rhonda) Conley of Lexington, North Carolina; one daughter, Tamera Miles of Kernersville, North Carolina; two stepsons, Barry (Stephanie) Moore of Monroe, North Carolina, and Todd (Kayla) Moore of Stakesville, North Carolina; one stepdaughter, Melissa Ann (Rusty) Dyer of Vanceburg; one brother, William “Bill” (Marie) Conley of Camp Dix; one sister, Fannie May of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis W. Moore; a brother, John Conley; and an infant sister.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home. A Masonic Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Applegate, Tyler Conley, Devan Conley, Garrett Throop, Jeremy Fraley, and Jeff Burriss.

Rusty Dyer and Adrian Lewis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
