Hubert Gene Scott, 74, of Vanceburg, passed away Sunday morning, November 26, 2017, at Florence Park Care Center in Florence.
He was born June 20, 1943, in Lewis County, a son of the late Wayne and Alice Stamm Scott.
Hubert served as an elder and was a member of Scotts Branch Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, riding horses, watching UK basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.
Hubert is survived by one son, Kevin Scott of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Marsha and Jack Scaggs of Burlington, Kimberly and Mark Mattingly of Goshen, and Lisa Shoemaker and Shawn Mansfield of Vanceburg; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mabel and Pearl Davis of London, Ohio, and Edrele Hughes of Marion, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Linda Moore Scott; one son, Anthony Wayne Scott; four brothers, Hobert Scott, Herbert Scott, Elbert Scott, and Ernest Scott; and one sister, Inez Mefford.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Kevin Watson and Bro. Dave Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
