Ida Mae Knell, 74, of Vanceburg, passed away Tuesday evening January 24, 2017, at Hospice of Hope in Maysville.
She was born April 25, 1942, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Thurston and Rose Bloomfield Smith.
Ida enjoyed watching TV, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Ida is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Sarah Knell of Vanceburg; three daughters, Iona Thomas and Doris Thomas, both of Vanceburg, and Connie (Nick) Leadingham of Olive Hill; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Simon Smith of Vanceburg and Leon Smith of Olive Hill; and three sisters, Iness Knell and Millie Bloomfield, both of Vanceburg, and Betty Davis of Olive Hill. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James Alfred Knell; three sons, Johnny Knell, Delbert Knell, and Timmy Knell; one granddaughter, LeeAnn Thomas; four brothers, Junior Smith, Charles Smith, Lovell Smith, and Gene Smith; and one sister, Myrtle Cooley.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix with Bro. Ronnie Enix officiating. Burial will follow in Bald Point Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
