James Lewis

James Arlen Lewis, 75, of Garrison, passed away Wednesday morning, August 10, 2016, at his home.

He was born October 5, 1940, in Pike County, a son of the late Arlen and Helen Birchfield Lewis.

James was of the Baptist faith and proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with his tractor on his farm, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline Walters Lewis; one son and daughter-in-law, James Edward and Carrie Lewis of Crestline, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula Kay and Tim Carper of Garrison; seven grandchildren; and six sisters, Evelyn Gibson of Nicholasville, Barbara Mass of Findlay, Ohio; Charlotte Howerton of South Shore, Zella Lewis of Grove City, Ohio, and Norma Jarvis and Ramona Slone, both of Prestonsburg. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison with Bro. Blake Bivens officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison with full military honors accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg.

Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue in Garrison.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
