James Herbert Armstrong, 90, of Garrison, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was surrounded by his loving family.
James was born in Lewis County on May 11, 1934, a son of the late James Elmer and Leah Kimbler Armstrong.
He was a member of Bivens Chapel Church. He enjoyed singing, hunting, fishing, hunting ginseng, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Velva Adkins Armstrong; two daughters, Pam (Jeff) Boggs and Vickie Armstrong of Garrison; two sons, David Armstrong of Garrison and Darrel (Janie) Armstrong of Vanceburg; and three grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Edith Houston, Cora Belle Thurman, Elnora Thurman, and Evelyn Hughes; and four brothers, Fred Armstrong, Ermal Armstrong, Hubert Armstrong, and Harrison Armstrong.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Ronnie Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025, and after 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison.
