James N. Elliott, 72, of Wallingford, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington following an extended illness.
James was born in Lewis County September 28, 1943, to the late James H. and Zella Cropper Elliott. Jim was a self-employed truck driver and also worked for 17 years at Rips Farm Supply in Tollesboro. He was a bus driver for the Licking Valley Inc. in Flemingsburg. Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was of the Christian faith. He loved his dog “Daisy” and loved to have cookouts with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his two daughters, Teresa Robbins of Vanceburg and Cindy (Kevin) Cooley of Tollesboro; three sons, Jerry N. (Jayne) Elliott of Ribolt, James Elliott of Vanceburg, and Kyle (Jennifer) Elliott of Flemingsburg; and four sisters, Judy (Jerry) Meranda of Batavia, Ohio, Phyllis (Lowell) Hester of Maysville, Jewell (Von) Himes of Mesa, Arizona, and Gayle Yingst of Follansbee, West Virginia. Special friend Patricia Holt of Tollesboro; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive who will mourn his passing.
Preceding him in death beside his parents were three sisters, Nina Mullikin, Imogene Applegate, and Muzetta Claypool; and four brothers, Dannie, Warren, Clyde, and Dean Elliott.
A memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg is in charge of local arrangements.
