James Robert Bloomfield, 68, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1949, in Lewis County, a son of the late Robert and Julia Marie Smith Bloomfield.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Ann Brown Bloomfield; one son and daughter-in-law, James Robert Bloomfield and Jolie of Winchester; one daughter, Sonya Kay Hartley of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Britny Hartley, Megan Hartley, Jacob Bloomfield, Emily Bloomfield, and Lily Bloomfield; one great-grandson, Hank Hartley; three brothers, Roger Evans of Circleville, Ohio, Payton Eulett of Vanceburg, and Claude Bloomfield of Louisa; two sisters, Pat Dutton of Chesterfield, South Carolina, and Sandy Brown of Vanceburg; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Phyllis Smith of Vanceburg; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Morris Bloomfield.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
