James Ithel “Jack” Smith, 76, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at his residence.
He was born June 17, 1941, in Lewis County, a son of the late Goldie Francis Smith.
Jack proudly served our country in the US Army and enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, doing word search puzzles, and spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alice Gilliam Smith; one son, Jason Smith of Vanceburg; two grandsons, Damen Smith of Ashland, and Jacob Smith of Lexington; and two great-grandsons, Conner Smith and Ryan Smith. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Lee Smith; and a brother, Walter Smith.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Conley Cemetery on Holly Road with full military honors accorded by Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
