Jeffrey T. Thoroughman, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024.
The son of Doris Thoroughman of Flemingsburg, he was born on February 16, 1962. He grew up in Tollesboro where he attended school until graduating in 1980.
At the age of 19, Jeff enlisted in the Air Force in November 1981, working in Security Forces. He served honorably in Georgia, Turkey, Arkansas, England, Ohio, and Alabama with deployments during Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. He retired in December 2001 at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, having attained the rank of Technical Sergeant.
Although he worked in several areas of interest after retirement, he eventually returned as a civilian employee to Maxwell AFB as a 911 Dispatcher for the Maxwell Fire Department. Jeff was serving in this capacity at the time of his death.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 40 years, Barbara (Manire) Thoroughman of Prattville, Alabama; daughters, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Frisinger of North Dakota, and Julie (Mike) Chunn and Debra Thoroughman of Prattville; grandchildren, Faith, Hannah, and Willis Frisinger, and Nathan and Abby Chunn; a sister, Veronica (Vic) Presutti of Beavercreek, Ohio; and a nephew, Josh Kirschbaum and family, of Xenia, Ohio. In addition, he is survived by other precious family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy D. Thoroughman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Manire of Warner Robins, Georgia; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Falmouth Evans of Vanceburg.
A private memorial service for our loved one will be at a later date.
