Jerry Hess

Jerry Eugene Hess, 75, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday afternoon, April 18, 2016, at his residence.
He was born February 23, 1941, in Honaker, Virginia, a son of the late Arnold James and Litha Mabel Dye Hess.
Jerry was of the Freewill Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, gold hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lois James; and his companion of 49 years, Fern Click Honaker.
Jerry is survived by one son, Jerry E. Hess Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Robert Harmeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Ferrell Hess of Vanceburg, and James Hess of Plant City, Florida; and four sisters, Allena Miller of Lakeland, Florida, Nancy Russell of Bucyrus, Ohio, Betty Miller of Lakeland, Florida, and Phyllis Laviere of Windsor, Canada. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
At the request of Mr. Hess there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be at Morgan Cemetery at Head of Grassy. Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg is in charge of all arrangements.
