Jesse Louise Kennard, 89, of Tollesboro, died Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born at Tollesboro on March 8, 1936, a daughter of the late Jesse and Fannie Walker Spence.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Hospice of Hope and Home Health Care Center. She was a member of Bivens Chapel Church and also attended Clarksburg Christian Church. Louise was a graduate and valedictorian of Tollesboro High School, Class of 1954.
Survivors include one niece, Lisa McCoy Flora; three nephews, Darrell (Brenda) Spence of Manchester, Ohio, and Phil (Connie) Spence and Danny McCoy of Tollesboro; three great-nieces, Robin Barnes of Vanceburg, Christy Taylor of Tollesboro, and Lacy Lykins of Maysville; five great-nephews, Darin (Megan) Spence of Tollesboro, Brian Spence of Maysville, Stacy (Hope) Lykins of Tollesboro, TJ Lykins of Alexandria, and James Schumacher (Rita Purcell) of Manchester, Ohio; numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and special friends, John and Krista Lewis of Vanceburg.
She was lovingly known as “Granny Ease” to Waylen, Raegan, and Addlyn Spence.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Kennard; a son, James Alan Kennard; one brother, Ray Spence; a great-niece, Amber Dawn McCoy; and a great-nephew, Dallas Schumacher.
Services will be at Noon Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. John Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Mason County.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Spence, Phil Spence, Darin Spence, Brian Spence, Waylen Spence, Danny McCane, and Mike Patton.
