Jewell Maxine Kinney was born on June 2, 1938, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Edgar and Mary Carrington Kinney.
Jewell passed on Monday, March 8, 2021, in Morehead from the deadly COVID-19.
Jewell was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vanceburg. She loved dancing, listening to bluegrass music, gardening, planting flowers and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Harry Willim; three brothers, Bruce Kinney, Frank Stevenson, and Donnie Stevenson; and three sisters, Dorothy Overstreet, Lillie Ginn and Ruby Morgan.
Jewell is survived by one daughter, Juley Fitzpatrick and her husband, Brian of Louisville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Bill Stevenson of Vanceburg.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Jewell’s nephew and nieces, Homer and Patti Edington, Jenny/Ron Boone, Shirley McClurg, and Janie/Jerry Wilburn. Along with her lifelong friend and nurse, Michelle Skidmore. Each and every one of these individuals assisted in the quality of life for Jewell. She was loved and will be missed by all.
COVID 19 Pandemic has affected the ability of friends and family to come together in person and grieve in typical ways. Therefore, the family has chosen to follow the CDC recommendations of a closed casket and no indoor ceremony.
A private graveside service will be Friday, March 12, 2021, in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak. Please share a picture, flower or a tear for Jewell, she was loved by her community.
A traditional celebration of Jewell’s life will be scheduled at a later date for family and friends to remember and treasure the memories that we share.
