Jim Esham

James “Jim” Clay Esham, 78, of Vanceburg, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born in Lewis County on March 4, 1943, a son of the late Richard and Gladys Estep Esham.

He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He had owned and operated a sawmill and garage, and was a lifelong farmer. He was a lover of classic cars and enjoyed spending time in his garage. Jim cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patty Crawford Esham; one son, Brad (Rebecca) Esham of Vanceburg; one daughter, Becky (Jeff) Zornes of Vanceburg; Toni Thomas, whom the Eshams raised as their own; three brothers, Kenneth Esham of Vanceburg, Gary David Esham of Quincy, and Joe Dale Esham of Mt. Sterling; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, James Ellis Carver II and Scooter Bug Esham; three brothers, DC Esham, Tom Esham, and Eugene Esham; and two sisters, Judith Phillips, Delores Bays.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Father Black officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Vanceburg.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg.

Pallbearers will be Steven Paul Theiss, Sam Esham, Clay Esham, Richie Ford, Bobby Rabideau, Stewie Hamilton, Ricky Sparks will serve as pallbearers. Clay Clark, Woody Clark, and Dan Schuman.
