Jo Ann Hardymon Hester, 89, of Vanceburg, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Jo Ann was born in Lewis County on May 17, 1935, a daughter of the late Delbert and Oleta Rigdon Hardymon. She was hardworking and adventurous, spirited and humorous. Jo Ann enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, planting flowers, and riding her golf cart and Volkswagen Beetle.
She had a love for repairing and building bicycles, cars, and trucks. Jp Ann liked her sweet tea, desserts, community festivals, listening to Bluegrass music, and mowing her yard. She loved to cook for family.
Jo Ann had a love for her fur babies, especially Fargo. Her family finds comfort while wrapped up in her handmade quilts.
Left to cherish Jo Ann’s memories are two daughters, Linda Moore of Vanceburg and Pam Hester of Louisville; two grandsons, Alan (Sara) Moore Jr., and Wesley (Terena) Moore; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Moore, Ayden Moore, Amber Moore, Campbell Moore, and Kendall Moore; and two sisters-in-law, Dora Thomas of Tollesboro and Brenda (Donald Jr.) Lykins of Vanceburg.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Hester, in 2011, and a sister, Geraldine Lykins.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Wes Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Visitation will be after Noon Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Moore, Alan Moore Jr., Nathan Moore, Kendall Moore, Campbell Moore, Josh Lykins, Chad Sizemore, and Eugene Robinson.
