Joan Fay Ervin

Joan Fay Ervin, age 90, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Vancrest of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

She was born at Garrison on April 15, 1934, a daughter of Elmer Dexter and Ora Elizabeth (Dummitt) Liles. She married William Paul Ervin on August 22, 1953, at Garrison.

Joan attended Lewis County High School. She was a homemaker, raising her four children, and also worked as a housekeeper for the former Best Western Motel in Bucyrus, Ohio, for many years.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and spending time in her garden or tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Paul, especially on trips to Kentucky to visit her family. Most importantly, Joan loved her family and spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

Joan is survived by her children, Anthony Ervin of Nevada, Ohio, Rita (Angelo) Marocco of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, and Pam (Troy) Richey of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Felecia Ervin of Hebron, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Taylor Ervin (Stephanie Kim), Haley Ervin (Dimitrios Spantithos), Anna Marocco, Cale (Kim) Richey, Caitlin (Joshua) Harper, Clay (Korrin) Richey, Clint (Lauren) Richey, and Cayla Richey; 15 great-grandchildren, Moses Harper, Titus Harper, Hannah Richey, Corbin Richey, Ella Richey, Austin Richey, Jonathan Richey, Sophie Richey, David Richey, Eva Richey, Hollis Harper, Chloe Richey, Silas Richey, Nathanael Richey, and Ethan Richey; and two sisters-in-law; Naomi Bear and Bonnie Ervin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Ervin, who died August 21, 2015; a son, Randy Ervin; seven sisters, Earnestine Willis, Eva Evans, Norene Lewis, Clotine McLaughlin, Helen Lou Lewis, Elizabeth Witten, and Mary Jane Stanley; and two brothers, Estle Liles and Joe Liles.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Willis-Cooper Cemetery.
