Joan Carol Hampton Pollitt, 73, of Tollesboro, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at her home.
She was born February 21, 1948, in Maysville, a daughter of the late Charles and Lottie Gulley Hampton.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital, dedicating most of her life to helping others. Joan enjoyed nursing, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Larry Pollitt; two children, Bobby (Barbi) Pollitt and Robin (Jason) Gallagher, both of Tollesboro; two brothers, Harry (Sue) Hampton of Orangeburg, and Dean (Lisa) Hampton of Maysville; three sisters, Sue (Corky) Fannin of Vanceburg, Lynn (Dusty) Lykins of Vanceburg, and Ann (Jeff) Hord of Flemingsburg; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bo Hampton.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Al Owens officiating.
