Joann Adams

Joann Adams, 86, of Vanceburg, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her home.

Joann was born on September 8, 1938 at Salt Lick, a daughter of the late Frank and Ruby Sartin Bivens.

She was retired from US Shoe Corporation. Joann was a member of the Bridge Church and previous member of the Church of God. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, sewing, fishing, and completing word searches.

Survivors include a son, David Adams (Shannon Nolen) of Winchester; two sisters Alma (Pal) Hamilton of Columbus, Ohio, and June (Paul) Robinette of South Shore; and a granddaughter, Monica Adams of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Several nieces, nephews, and special friends also survive who will sadly mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lovell Adams; a sister Violet Sue Bivens; and two brothers Raymond Bivens and Johnie Bivens.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg with Pastor Ben Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Monday at Gaydos Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chad Kidwell, Billy McClurg, Chantz Walters, Johnny Bivens, Ellis Kidwell, and Brent Scott. Lee Salsgiver will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
