John W. Scott, 69, of Vanceburg, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family Sunday, August 3, 2025.
John was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, May 20, 1956, to the late Wilbur and Anna Louise Lewis Scott. John worked for the U.S. Shoe factory in Vanceburg for 30 years until it’s closing. John was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing along with many other outdoor activities.
John was of the Christian faith, but more importantly was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Left to cherish John’s memories are his wife of 47 years, Sally Ames Scott of Vanceburg; two sons, Jeremy (Crystal) Ames of Garrison and Bon Wesley (Erika) Scott of Quincy; a sister, Ramona Bivens of Vanceburg; seven grandchildren, Alison Ames, Brice Scott, Alaric Scott, Keygan Scott, Charlotte Corns, Lathanial Wallace, and Trystan Wallace.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy Scott; and brothers, Nelson Scott, Kenneth Scott, and Wilbur Eugene Scott.
A celebration of life will be at the convenience of the family.
