Johnny Douglas McClurg, 66, of Vanceburg, passed away at his home at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, after a brief illness with his family by his side.
Johnny was born in Lewis County August 2, 1949, to the late Freddy and Kathryn Penrod McClurg. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. He had worked in the maintenance department for CSX Railroad for 34 years and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Lonna Powell of Flemingsburg, Melissa Murphy of Frankfort, and Linda Otis (Steve) of Huntington, West Virginia; one son, Darren McClurg (Cindy) of Paducah; four sisters, Opal Gilkerson of Cynthiana, Jewell Jarrett of Columbus, Ohio, Darlene Henderson of Tollesboro, and Geneva Lawthorne of Bethel, Ohio; two brothers, Bud (Sherry) McClurg of Georgetown, and Gene (Cindy) McClurg of Zephyr Hills, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert, Ralph and Frank McClurg.
Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Gaydos Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in McClurg Cemetery at Concord.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Bruin, Brian McClurg, Butch Polley, Steve Dunigan, Joe Potter, Michael McClurg, and Cedric Murphy.
